Here we go!
Its been very busy here lately and a lot of things have happened and the blog have been suffering from it. I haven't been sewing much but last night i made these two pants. The red and white is for a friends son. The mum saw this cute fabric with guitars on and wanted an outfit. The red and white stripey fabric is from an t-shirt that i also used to sew this bunny for Maja. Unfortunate i haven't have time to make them until last night and i only made the pants, the top will have to wait until i come back from Sweden. The boy is a little bit smaller than Maja so these will be great fro him to grow in.
The blue and white stripey ones are for Maja and i made them out of an old pair of Arrons jeans that are to small for him. She needs pants that can handle being dragged on the ground outside. The weather have been so nice and we are outside everyday and Maja crawls around everywhere so these pants will be good. I made them a bit bigger so that she will have something to grow in.
Yesterday was Fathers day here. Maja made a drawing for dad and she also helped me made this top for her. Being a true girl she picked all pink colours ; )
This top is super easy to do. I just cut out the letters in felt and then glued them on with fabric glue. I was suppose to sew them on to so that they will last a bit better but i was doing this in the morning and ran out of time. This is a very quick and easy way to have a bit of fun with your little ones tops.
Today me and Maja are flying to Sweden. We will be there for 5 weeks and i dont think i will do any blogging when im over there, but you never know. Have a great time all of you. xx Maja, Lena and Me

Bits and pieces!
First and most important, we are going to Sweden, weeeeeeeee! Me and Maja are going on the 5th of September, so excited. Would have loved for Arron to come too. The reason we haven't gone earlier have been because i really wanted us to go all together the first time with Maja but it just haven't been possible so i will go by myself with her.
Maja have enjoyed reading books! |
In her new supercute anchor suit. |

Bucket hat!
Spring is here and Maja needed a hat to cover her lovely head. We do have one that we got as a present but is pink and girly and you know how i feel about that so last night i started sewing one for her. Over at roubidou i found out that you could try this pattern out for free, its from the book Oliver + s, little things to sew. I have been reading a lot about this book and i have been wanting to try it out and now i got the chance. It was a great pattern and the instructions were super clear. I will do some changes to it tho. I feel that the brim is a bit short, especially in the back so i might make it a bit wider there. I'm also thinking about adding ties so that maybe it will stay on better. I am very happy with the result of this one, and its great that it is reversible so you can have different styles depending on the clothing you are wearing. The checked fabric is from a second hand men's shirt. I will make a whole summers outfit for her in the rest of the fabric.

So...
Im not feeling like a queen today, thats for sure. Had a great night last night, maybe drank a bit to many beers, maybe danced a bit too much, sang along to songs a bit to loud and maybe had a bit to little sleep, but it was so worth it. Had heaps of fun! Today, not much will happen. I will maybe watch a movie, eat some scones and just hang out with Maja.

Hhmmmm... |
Look at that hair! and those pants! and those boots! |
Soft toys!
Since i didn't have much luck with my last soft toy attempt i thought i would find a tutorial and give it another go and this is the one i followed and this is the result. Super cute hey? Maja is asleep so she will have to test it tomorrow.
Now its time for me to get ready, I'm going out tonight, weeeeeee!

Lasagna!
Yesterday i made my first ever lasagna! I even made my first ever white sauce. I found this recipe from a Swedish cookbook for a aubergine and chorizo lasagna and thought that it sounded good. Off to the supermarket i went to get the ingredients but i couldn't find any aubergine, I asked the staff but no one knew what it was. I was a bit confused, because i knew that aubergine wasn't a very rare vegetable but i couldn't figure out what it was. In the end i had to call Rebecka, i had a feeling that maybe i was using the Swedish word for the vegetable but i had a mind blank and couldn't come up with the English one. Luckily, Rebecka came to my rescue and told me that is was eggplant i was after. Sometimes you really mix up the English and Swedish.
Anyway, the lasagna turned out great, maybe not as filling as i would have liked to but very tasty.
Oh, and have a look at this little one, falling asleep on her tummy in the pram, hugging Boris the teddy.
Right now we have taken away her dummy and trying to teach her to fall asleep by herself. Before she got her eczema she was a very good sleeper and slept through the night and very well during the day but when her eczema started she stopped and this weekend it became a bit to much for me not getting much sleep at all so we decided to teach her to fall a sleep buy herself and without the dummy. I am amazed at how good it have been and it was so much easier than i thought it would be. Don't take me wrong, it have been hard but not super, duper hard. Now its been two nights and it takes about 10-15 min for her to fall asleep by herself, and then she sleeps all night through again, go Maja!

Children's magazine!
Here in Australia we have a very cute online children's magazine, Papier Mache, you can get loads and loads of inspiration from it so go and have a look here!
This and that!
Yesterday when we were over at Max and Linda's, Maja really liked to play with Max's soft toy elephant so i decided to make my own for her. I used the same shape elephant as i use here on the blog and boy did it turn out ugly! At least she likes to play with it.
Today we went to the aquarium with Rebecka and Linda. It was alot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it. Afterwords we had a stroll through the city, sat on some stairs and ate amazing sushi. Now we are home and Maja is playing off all her energy on the floor. I'm exhausted, its hard work going to the city with a kid.
I have almost finished our picture wall now. I still have some frames to fill. I'm happy with the result. I didn't plan it at all, just put them up as i went. Some of them are a bit wonky but i don't mind.
Spring is here now and i love all the beautiful blossoms that you can take inside. The water for these does need a changes tho, the colour doesn't look to nice.

Design!
I have been told that the first designs that i put up didn't show up on the blog. I don't know what had gone wrong but hopefully you can all see them now.
Yesterday i went into the city and had a hair cut. It was very long overdue. Didn't do any big change, just thinned it out and cut all the split ends off, but it was so nice to get it done. Maja was a trooper and charmed the whole salon.
On my way home i thought i go and have a look at the new Zara store. For you who live in Sweden, we don't have H&M here and up until about a month ago we didn't have Zara either. I am very happy its here, i have missed some good clothing stores that are a bit cheaper. It was super busy in there but i still managed to find about ten garments that would fit into my wardrobe perfectly but i was being good and only ended up with a pair of chinos. I still haven't gone back to my usual weight so i don't have many pants to wear do i def needed these.
Last night was a bit better for all of us. Maja slept a bit more and i got a bit more sleep too, not enough tho. Woke up with a super sore throat this morning. She doesn't seem to have any fever any more so hopefully her snotty nose will go soon and her eczema is getting better so maybe we can get back to good nights sleeps soon.

More!
So!
It obviously wasn't enough with eczema, now its super runny nose and fever at the same time. Again a very ruff night, at least I'm lucky that Arron is home a bit today so he can help out a bit. He will have to go soon tho, for band practise and later on tonight a gig.
Even tho i have been super busy with Maja and a bit sleep deprived i have managed to get some work in. Here are some ideas for business cards and tags. I'm not sure about the business cards at all. Even tho i really like the crinkle paper effect i think i might get tired of it and it wont last.
I know there are a lot of people reading this blog and i would love to have your comments so pls let me know what you think, it wont take too long. Thank you!

Eczema!
Since we had the bad thrush session Maja have been suffering from eczema on her whole body. Its worst around her neck, arms and legs but its is the neck area that is creating a lot of discomfort for her. For the last two nights she have been up crying and itching until it bleeds, poor little darling. We have tried almost everything but nothing seems to help. Sometimes it gets better and sometimes it gets worse but we haven't managed to figure out why. Still, she is such an happy baby and a trooper but nights are a bit hard. Since it all started she haven't actually slept a whole night through, which is understandably, but it does make me a bit sleep deprived sometimes, but i am so happy to be there for her and give her comfort.
This is what I'm working on now, or this is the remnants of what will become a dress for Maja.
Note to self; white tights, dirty floor and crawling baby is not a great combination.

Cot bumper!
We got this cute cot bumper from Diana, she got it from a friend and my plan was to use it as a base and sew new fabric onto it but when i got it i saw how cute it was and it was also in really good condition so i decided to keep it. Its handmade and i can see a mum or grandmother sitting making this and it being used by maybe two kids and then passed on to end up at a charity giveaway and finally it ended up here.
Every morning when we go into Maja she is lying with her head up at the top of the bed. No matter how low down we put her in the beginning of the night, she wriggles up. So hopefully this will protect her little head a bit, not that it has been a problem with her hitting it or so but better to be safe than sorry.
Here in Australia they recommend you not to have cot bumpers to prevent sids but i have no problems with using one. I know Maja will be fine. The only thing i can see that will be a problem is she having fun with the ties and trying to pull on them.

Inspiration!
My inspiration for sewing have been lacking for a while now. I think with all traveling and everyday chores i haven't been able to find the inspiration to sew but then i got this beautiful pattern book in the post from Diana yesterday and straight away i got inspired, so today i did this dress for Maja. It was suppose to be a prototype since i was doing the pattern myself but i thought that maybe it could be a prototype that she could wear, but i sewed the bodice on back to front and i really cant be bothered unpicking so this will be a one time only wear prototype. I am very happy with the style tho, and the fit is really good. Now i will make it in a cute fabric. As usual Maja was happy to be a model.
Today we went to story time at the library. Maja really loves going there and listening to the stories, but mostly i think she likes looking at all the kids.
Maja, the perfect model, pulled up the skirt so that you can see the bodice. |
Here it is very obvious that the bodice is sewed on back to front. Its a bit big. |
Yepp, super happy and loving life, even when my mom makes me try on dresses in cold weather. |
Having a play with the foot and then noticing daddy who just came home. |
This is the Japanese pattern book that Diana gave me. |
