Missing Sweden!

About to go to bed but had a quick look around on some swedish blogs and it really made me miss Sweden. Sweden is the best place ever to be in during summer. Since its dark and cold for the most of the year, when summer comes everyone goes crazy and tries to enjoy every minute of it to the full and its fantastic. I miss jumping off the cliffs into the ocean, i miss sailing, i miss bbq and warm nights and mostly i miss my family and friends.

First part!

So i just finished first part of my pram underlay/winter sleeping bag for Maja. To this i will attach a sleeping bag sort of thing ; ) with zips that will keep her warm. This underlay have two sheets of wadding that hopefully will keep the cold away from underneath.

Now my little darling have had enough and wants some food so i will take better photo tomorrow to show you.

If i had just a little bit more money!

I would buy some baby clothes from album di famiglia such stunning clothes, i love the plain muted colours and their styles are great.

Made some more rhubarb jam today, i really love it, this time i added apples too. OK, now back to sewing, this was a quick break with chai and chili chocolate.

Dummy holder!

I made this dummy holder today for a mum in my mothers group. Its for a little boy, i hope she doesn't think the dotted fabric is girly, i don't.

Elephant mittens!

Yesterday it was super cold, 5 degrees in the morning, not inside tho, luckily. But with the wind chill it came down to minus 2 they said. Went for a walk and Maja decided that she wanted to have her hands outside the blanket and they got super cold so i made these little elephant mittens and she loves them. The spotted tie is a tie from a pair of men's new XXL pyjama pants that i found at Savers.

I had to show you these super cute photos of a sleeping Maja in the car. Very often the beanie goes like this on her and she very rarely minds, she usually takes it as a good opportunity to have a nap.

Cloth nappies!

So i bought a few cloth nappies when i found some on sale and tried it on Maja last week. She was not happy. From having a very good day, she became grumpy and cried a lot. As soon as i changed into disposables again she was the normal super happy Maja. So i figured that she is used to the disposable and to not feel wet which of course is not very nice. Also, every time she weed it leaked. But i didn't want to give up. I really want to use cloth, for the environment but also for Maja. So much better to have something natural against her super soft skin. Today we tried again and so far she have been super happy, so fingers crossed.

Since we came home from the hospital i have used wet ones to clean her bottom but i haven't been happy with that either. Just use one time and then throw away, such a waste but i didn't really know what to use. Its my first little one and i don't know these things, anyway i decided to cut up some face washes that we had at home ( we have so many since Maja was a throw up machine in the beginning ) into smaller squares and sew the edges and now we use them and some water and then we wash them with the nappies. So much better for the environment and i think Majas bottom is happier too.

Update: Maja woke up crying, i took the nappie off that was wet and after a while she was happy again. I think i need to become better at changing it more often so that she is not wet for too long.

The light family!

Went for a run again this morning. It was freezing but felt so good afterwords.

Yesterday i went to Savers again, they had 50% off all clothing and i bought so much. Mostly mens shirts that i will use for the fabric and then two cute dresses for Maja.

Pattern!

I'm trying to make a pattern for a pram liner and sleeping bag with zipper to keep Maja warm on our walks but i am struggling a bit with it i think. Here you can see the drafts.
Time to stop now, maja have had enough of being in the bouncer, i think she is tired.

How weird that there is such a difference on the light in these photos, they were taken right after each other.

Cold!

So the other day when i woke up i thought ' hmmm its not very cold today, it must have been a mild night, maybe i wont put on the heater'. Well, i walked into the living room and it was 14 degrees! How crazy is that, i have become so used to it to be freezing when i wake up, around 10-11 degrees so when its 14, yes 14!! i think its warm. At least now we finally have heaters in the bedrooms. Our Landlord is the best ever! He called me the other day and said he had been thinking about us and Maja and that it is so cold now that maybe we would like to have some heaters installed in the bedrooms, so nice. We are very lucky.

Training!

This morning the Light family went for a run. While i was running around the oval with Lena Arron walked with Maja and then we changed over. I feel that i really need to start training properly and get my body back. I have started to do strengthening exercises every morning and now i will try to start the running too.

Looking cute for the party in the 'pear me' set.

Not really wanting to lie still tho.

Playing with dad at the party

Fuzzy birthday boy, he was moving so much.
He had a really cute bow tie and vest that Linda had made.

Sleeping in dads arms

Managed to get one unfuzzy photo of the birthday boy.

Max and Maja entertaining the grownups.

Super cute in beanie that one of Arron's students wife knitted

Yesterday we went to Max's birthday party and it was great. Lots of people and lots of fun. We were all exhausted when we got home. I did give him the whole set of clothes, i hope it fits him well.

Sewing!

Today we are going to a 1 year old party. Little Max is growing up really fast. Max have a special place in my heart. When i was pregnant and i had all the complications, i really didn't want to be pregnant and i felt like i was having an alien in my tummy, but i had some good sessions with Max where i just hold him for hours and it made me feel happy about being pregnant and to look forward to seeing my little one.

Last night i sew a pair of pants to him, i think they might be a bit to big tho and this morning i made the top which I'm not happy about at all. The neck line is dumb, all wobbly, the cuffs are dumb. Nothing really worked on this one. Don't know if it is because its a gift and i really want it to be perfect or because I'm doing it last minute. Its also hard to make the pattern when you don't have anything to compare it to to see if the size is right. I'm also not really friends with my overlocker, there is something in the settings that makes it so hard to use on some fabrics. Since I'm so unhappy with the top I'm not sure i will give it to him, but it will look dumb with just the pants. The stripey fabric is from a long sleeve men's top that i found at Savers the other day.

Time for me to have a shower and to get ready, I will let Arron decide if we should give him the top or not.

Time!

I havent written here for a few days now, time just passes buy so fast. We have been having some amazing days here, with full sun and temperatures up in the 20.

Last night i finally finished my biggish project. It have taken me way to long. I had problems with the pattern, first i decided to grade it but then i realized that it as the wrong style for the person who would get it so i had to come up with something new. I can show you pics yet but as soon as the person gets it i will show you. I am not entirely happy with the result. I had some problems with the seams and the stretchy fabric, but it looks ok.

Today i went to Savers with Jacinda and i found so much stuff. I bough a cute pattern for Maja, a pillow case and two tablecloths that i will convert into clothes etc. I also found a long sleeve men's top in nice stripey fabric that i will make some baby clothes off too.

How cute, maybe in different fabrics and colours tho.
Amazing colours and great fabric.
This table cloth reminds me of Sweden.
Coolest pants ever!
Today i made this 'pear me' top for Maja again and in the right size. I just love this colour combo.

Had to put one in on my super cute daughter.

Maja is sleeping now so i will do some cleaning before im off to dinner.
