Quick fix!

I'm a bit of a fan of quick fixes! I am very impatient and want things done quick but i am getting better patience and i am getting better at letting things take its time.

In the last couple of posts it have been about quick fixes until i can get it how i really want it and here is another one of them.

The previous owners of this house had installed this weird alarm system and in our bedroom is the main control panel if you can call it that and its big and super ugly. We do not use the alarm and we would like to take it away but our landlord wants to keep it. Since Maja moved into her own room we haven't decided how we want to furnish our bedroom and we are still moving things around, so until we have decided for a more permanent way to have it i wanted to find something to cover this ugly alarm thing.

I had this old frame at home that i painted white ages ago and i also have been having this fabric in my stash for years and years so i just married the two and this is what we got. I think it will look better if the frame was black, but that will be another project. Now i don't know which way is supposed to be up or down on the fabric. I think the top picture is right.

Grass!

At Bunnings I also got plastic grass and i covered this lampshade in it.

I got the idea from when me and Arron was walking past a fence that had plastic grass wrapped around it like on a tennis racket handle. For ages i have been wanting to write a word in rope light on the wall but i haven't been able to find rope light so until i find it i decided to get the cheapest IKEA lamp and lampshade and cover it in grass for a bit of fun.

Curtains!

Its is seriously not fun at all to wash, hem and iron floor to roof length curtains!

Pots!

On friday i went to Bunnings and i came home with a lovely plant but i didn't come home with a pot for it. I find it hard to find nice pots and if i find one i like they cost about a million dollares which is a little bit to much for me. So i decided to make one that i can use until i find one i like for the right price and this is the result. I'm not sure if i love it or not but i have decided to give my other plants the same pots so that they can all match. Its made of felt that i sewed together and it took about five seconds.

Look at the little one, she have figured out that if she bangs the maracas on the ground it will make a sound, so cute. Oh and if you look closely you can see her throwups on the floor next to her, the ones Lena didn't get to, yep super clean house!

Pants!

If you scroll down a bit you will see the pants that matches the kimono. Such a funny outfit.

Taking steps with help of daddy.

After a big poonami i had to change the clothes
underneath so i also changed the kimono over.
Don't know which side i like the most.

Yep that was a lot of photos of Maja. Sorry about the quality, sometimes you just cant be bothered. As soon as you take the camera out she calms down and gets happy. If she is crying she stops when the camera is out so she is a lot of fun to take photos of and also she is super cute so its hard not to snap a picture all the time.

Today i went to bunnings, i have a lot of project that i want to do for the house but i was very disappointed there. I only found one of the things that i wanted and the whole visit took me about an hour.

Kimono!

From an 90's Stussy shirt and a pair of pyjama shorts Maja got an reversible kimono. I'm am now working on the pants to match.

In the post!

Yesterday i got these in the mail. It was my latest eBay buy and I'm stoked. It took me a while to decide what to sew first but now i have made up my mind and i will make something out of this shirt and these pyjama shorts.

Funky kids clothes patterns

Arron took this of Maja, she is starting to enjoy it.

Dinner!

Last night i made this amazing soup for dinner. Its Jacinda's recipe and since i had it at her place i have been making it a few times. Its a cauliflower, leek and zucchini soup. To it we have some Greek yoghurt, paprika and toasted bread, yum. Now i will have some for lunch too, even more yum.

Went to the doctor this morning and got some medication for the thrush so hopefully it will clear now. We have finally found the best doctor. I have been here for about 10 years now and i have found it so hard to find a good doctor and now we finally have and then i found out that she is leaving in august, boring.

Dansa i neon!

This morning i made this top to match the pants i made yesterday. I'm in love with these pants and top styles. Pink has never been a colour of mine but now i do have a girl and i thought she could have some pink and i suppose pink can be good like it is here matched with grey.
As you can see on the picture the tops body is looking a bit small compared to the arms. In the rush of getting it done so that i could hang out with Maja i used the wrong sized body so its a bit small but it fits.

Sewing takes a bit longer these days when Maja is with me, she is so entertaining when she is on the floor and she wants to talk all the time.

She cant crawl yet but she is pushing herself backwards.
And turning.

I think we need to child proof the study soon.

Most amazing laugh ever!

I'm really liking the back of these pants now. I made the
curve a bit rounderand it looks much better.

My nipples is not better but i am feeding with a nipple shield now. I had to stop expressing because i was running out of milk. I wanted to thank all of you, reading this blog and giving me encouragement and good advices on how to overcome this thrush thing, it means a lot to me.

Update!

So we are back to expressing. My breasts started to heart to much again. I will try to see my maternity wife tomorrow and hopefully she can help me, at least Maja doesnt mind the bottle.

Look, she holds it herself, so good.

An op shop singlet...

Turned into cute 'neo' pants for Maja. I also
made some 'pear me' pants for Moa.

Pain!

So there have been some painful and hard last couple of days, or more like a week actually.
It all started with that me and Maja got thrush. Every time she feed it felt like someone was cutting my nipples with knives or using ruff sandpaper on them and it was really painful between the feeds too. Maja was in pain to and cried a lot during feeds.
I got some creams and it started to help but because Maja had been in such a pain feeding she had been attaching wrong so then i got cracked nipples, which is also super painful. Then on Friday Maja started to throw up blood and we rushed to the emergency. Luckily it had nothing to do with Maja, it was my cracked and bleeding nipples that was the cause. While feeding she got blood with the milk and then her tummy got upset and she threw it up. So to give my nipples some rest i started to express milk and then try to feed her from a bottle. First time it took about 45 min to get her to eat from the bottle but after that she was happy to take to the bottle. It took about 45 min to pump and sometimes i still didn't get enough milk for her. We have had some really hard nights with a lot of cries and waking ups but this morning finally she could eat from the breasts again and it was not pain full at all! Yay, hopefully everything will go back to normal now, but boy am i tired.
Oh and i bought some new clothes yesterday from one of my favorite stores, country road. Felt that i needed it after all that have happened and also because i have been wearing the same pants for over a year, its all i can fit and i am so sick of them.

Now Maja is sleeping and i am hoping to get some sewing in, havent done much at all this weekend.

pimp my pram!

I finally finished the sleeping bag for the pram. After a lot of bad words and unpicking it is done and I'm super happy about it! But, yes there is a big but, i am gonna have to do a new one. I did sort know that this would have to be a prototype and i did a lot of things wrong and as you can see on the pic where Maja is in the pram it is a bit too tight around the waist ; ). So i will make a new one and this one will be perfect. Still, i am very happy about this one.

This morning me and Maja went to Artplay. We had one hour of dancing, singing and playing with fabrics etc, it was lovely.

Now I'm home and i will have a rest, still have a bit of a cold. My nipples are much better but still sore but I'm so happy its not as painful anymore.

Run Down!

I have been feeling a bit run down the last couple of days and i also managed to get thrush on my nipples so every time i feed it feels like some one is cutting my nipples with knives. I have a good cry every time but im really starting to fear feeding time. I have got some creams and stuff so hopefully that will help. Poor little Maja have it in her mouth so it hurts for her to feed and she cries sometimes too but not too much, she is a trooper. We both have got a runny nose so i think today will be a calm one with a lot of cuddles on the couch.

Yesterday we went to song group at the library. Maja loves it, or i dont think she really cares about the singing but she loves watching all the other kids.

My darling is asleep now and i will do some sewing.

Happy wednesday.

Pram bag!

I just finished this little pram bag for a friend. She saw the one i made for myself on the blog and wanted to have one too. They are so good. I have my lip balm, phone and keys in it, if you are leaving your pram outside you can just snap it off and take it with you. I still have to put the snap buttons on but Maja is having such a good sleep and i don't want to wake her up. While she have been sleeping i have managed to do the dishes and cook dinner plus making the bag, yay for long sleeps.

Hanging out in her bouncer with her friends

Party!

Last night we were invited to an Sri Lankan charity dinner. We had decided to go, to eat some lovely Sri Lankan food for a good cause. We also decided to take Maja with us since the dinner was to start at 6.30pm and we could put Maja to sleep in the pram. So we were excited. It didn't turn out that well tho. The same day we found out that dinner didn't start until 8.45pm, we tried to get someone to baby sit but with no luck which was no wonder with such a short notice. On the way there we got lost and couldn't find the place, finally we found it by luck. We got introduced to a lot of people and got some seats and all seemed fine, but then, the music started and it was really loud. We had to walk out to the foyer but it was still very loud out there too so after a while of not knowing what to do we decided to go home. We got home at around 10.00pm. I fed Maja and then we put her to bed. Me and Arron had some crackers and cheese for dinner and a couple of beers. It was a great first dinner outing ; ) We did learn some things tho, that maybe find out exactly when dinner is gonna be served, if there is gonna be loud live music early on etc. At least we had fun together me and my family.
Maja super cute in her dress. At the dinner people still thought she was a boy. Probably because she was wearing blues and not pinks.

Yesterday i started doing this pattern for pants with a type of gusset going up on the back. I finished them today and im happy with them but i think it will look better if the gusset is wider so i will change the pattern and try that.

Hanging out with Daddy playing guitar.

Maja is becoming so interested in Lena and wants to touch her all the time, it is so cute.
