Motherhood!

I was reading on a blog regarding motherhood. First i read about it on underbara Clara and then on Lyckobacken and I feel a lot like both those women.
When i was pregnant Maja slept the whole night through in the tummy. Everybody was asking me if she kept me awake and i said no and was happy because i got a good nights sleep. Their responses was that, you just wait, as soon as she is out she will keep you awake. Maja was born and for the first two weeks i think she kept me awake but then she started to sleep through the night. My Maternity wife told me to wake her up to feed her which i did but it felt wrong, so i stopped doing that too and since then she have been sleeping through the night and she have been happy about it. When people find out about this their first response is, you just wait, she will soon get into a growth spurt and THEN she will wake up for feeds during the night, it was like they couldn't be happy for me having a good nights sleep. After hearing this almost everyday i was waiting for it to change, for her to start waking up and for my 'Luck" to end. But then i decided to stop thinking like that. Another thing was that with having her sleeping through the night i was going to get blocked milk channels and oh that was horrible so i needed to feed during the night or at least pump the milk out. I didn't and i have never had any problems, of course my boobs are big and a bit sore in the morning but i can deal with that.
Then its the thing about what an easy child Maja is. The only times she cries is if she is hungry or tired and then its for a few minutes and that's that. While she is awake she is very happy to entertain herself but she is also very happy to hang out with other people. Sometimes she is a bit grizzly but i don't pay to much attention to that, so she stops. Everybody keep on telling me how lucky i am to have such an easy child and the ' you just wait ' underlying tone was always there. It was like people just couldn't be happy for me. And do you know what, i don't think it has all to do with luck. I just think i am a great mum and that i have great instincts and that i can read Maja very well which means that we get along very well. I get time for myself and she get time for herself and then when we hang out its awesome.
Not to say that mums who have babies who cries and don't sleep are not great mums or that they don't have great instincts, i think they are amazing mums and i am so impressed by them but i am impressed by ALL mums, we are all doing an amazing job and we are all fantastic, we just have different relations to our babies and i think we need to start to embrace that and be happy about each others experiences and except that everyone is different but that we all are doing and amazing job, stop comparing yourself and your baby with other mums and babies. I have and i enjoy motherhood so much more now and I am a great mum!

Cleaning!

Today my plan was to clean the house a bit, it is very dirty. It gets dirty very easily when you have a big dog and also when you have a husband who always walks inside with his shoes on.
But instead i did a lot of sewing and i finished the last book that i got from mum. No more Swedish books for me. Went for a big and great walk with the girls and now Jacinda is coming over for pizza and movie, so no time for cleaning.

For a long time i have been wanting a bread
basket and today i decided to make one. I love
sewing things like this, easy and fast.

I used some fabric scraps that i had at home and the
pattern i figured out my self, not very hard.
I like!

I also wrapped a present to Linda, today is her birthday but
she is coming over tomorrow for her birthday dinner.
I really enjoy wrapping presents. Maybe its for the same
reason that i like short and easy sewing projects.
You get a result straight away, satisfaction
for job well done, and then you can move on.

Denim jacket!

Maja with her new favorite teddy bear from Malin.
Arron left for Thredbo this morning. Yesterday he worked all day and then he had a gig and now he is on his way for another gig where he will stay over for the night and then there is another gig on Saturday night and then i will finally see him on Sunday when he wakes up. Being married to a musician i have had to get used to him being away at nights and on weekends but i find that it have become so much harder to cope with now when we have Maja. But it is his job and it is something that he loves and that he have dedicated his life to do and i do support him to the full but i do also miss him when he is gone.

Yesterday me and Maja went for a little adventure on two different trains and we ended up in a part of the city that i haven't been to before. We met up with Rebecka and Moa and went to a market. A bit of a posh market with beautiful stalls and beautiful goods. We had a lovely lunch and wished we had more money to spend on all the lovely things. On the way home i decided to treat myself so i got a 30 min shoulders and neck massage. I have so sore shoulders at the moment and this massage did wonders. I also bought these amazing flowers.

Lena, who always wants to be a part of what you are doing.

Hanging out with my new denim jacket

It's a bit big tho.
Jacinda came over later in and she had bought an amazing denim jacket for Maja, i think she might have to grow a little bit more before she can wear it tho.

Yesterday!

So yesterday we went down to Torquay. When i worked for Rip Curl i live down there. It's a surf town about and hour and a half from Melbourne. I sort of miss living there, so beautiful and peaceful.
We had a perfect day down there. Ran in to Tina, who i got to know at Rip Curl and her boys Oscar and Felix and they had so much fun with Lena. We had a great lunch and then a beautiful walk on the beach in the sun. Back at home we had Arrons amazing Vietnamese soup, a bit too spicy for me this time but still amazingly good. I eat so much spicy food these days. When i was pregnant i got of it all, couldn't handle it but now I'm back on it and i love it. Then we had lovely ice cream for dessert. A great day!

A boy was flying his kite on the beach.

Trees that have been bent by the wind.

Being down in Torquay made me realize how much i miss surfing. I don't miss the winter surfing tho, so cold. You had to have booties, gloves and a hood and to duck dive gave you the biggest head freeze ever. We decided that next summer we will go down and surf again. Probably a bit easier when Maja is a bit older.

Back to normal!

So Maja's sleeping is back to normal. Last night i put her to bed at 9.10 pm and she was asleep at 9.11 pm and I woke up at 7.30 am and had to go and wake her for a feed so we both had a long nice sleep.

I feel that to 90% i understand my daughter. I mostly know why she is crying or in what mood she is in but sometimes, like the other night she does something that i don't understand. Why was she waking up and crying through the night? At least it was a one off and we are back to this normal amazing connection that we have between us where i know what she wants. I can understand how it can be hard for Arron sometimes because for me it is so obvious what she wants when she cries or make noises. I can in a second hear the difference in her baby talks from being happy to i had enough of this but for him its harder to hear, I suppose mothers have this special connection with their babies but then I also spend so much more time with her than what he does.

All three of my beautiful family is sleeping now, but soon its time for them to get up and we will go to the beach today. It's going to be a beautiful day today, 24 degrees Celsius and i cant wait to get to the beach with my family.

There haven't been much creativity here on the blog lately. Its been school holidays here and Arron have had two weeks off from work so we have been doing other things. I am still in the process of cutting out the patterns for the sleeping bag for Maja, i might finish it off tomorrow and then i can start sewing. I think my least favourite part is to cut out the fabric, its time consuming and not fun.

Last night!

Was a bad night, i woke up at midnight buy two people screaming outside our bedroom window, a couple that was fighting. They live a few houses down and this is not the first time they fight and its ugly. Arron was away on a gig and i felt scared and uncomfortable so i called the police, which is not the first time we do either when these guys are fighting. I think after an hour of fighting they finally stopped, don't know if it was because the police came or because they had enough. Then Arron came home and i could relax and go back to sleep, but no, Maja didn't agree on that. For the first time in months she decided to wake up all through the night. I had to get up about every half hour to give her the dummy and she would stop crying and then wake up again. I have no idea what was going on. Anyway we got through it and we have had a great day today, a bit slow but still great. Went for a massive walk in the morning, its been beautiful weather here today. Then i watched a movie, I love you Phillip Morris, it was ok, and now Arron is gone to play a gig again and its me and the girls for the night.
Super cute in her pajamas from her cousins in Sweden

Chinos!

I can fit another pair of chinos now, a bit tight but still, i can get them on, very happy.
Its been a very lazy weekend. Today we went to our favorite café, Green, and thats about all we did today.

Best pancakes ever!

Lena had to wait outside.

Cloth nappies again!

Now i have been recommended this brand, ittibitti and i actually think they look better. If anyone else uses cloth nappies and have any recommendations please let me know. I think we will start with having them just for the day, i don't want anything to disturb her amazing night sleep because i need to sleep during the night.

Rhubarb and chili!

Today i have been cooking a bit. I made some rhubarb cordial and rhubarb and hazelnut pie. Then i made some sambal olek. We have so much rhubarb and chili in the garden so I'm trying to find ways to use it.
Arron cooked an amazing dinner today, cimchee slaw, crispy chicken, green curry and rice noodles, so good.

Now we are going to have some pie with vanilla ice cream for desert.
Update: That was the best pie ever. I made it with hazelnut meal, flour, butter and sugar, oh and rhubarb of course but the hazelnut meal made it awesome.

Cloth nappies!

At the moment we are using disposable nappies for Maja and its working great but we both feel that we would like to change to cloth ones. The problem is that i have no idea about anything regarding cloth nappies so i tried to do some research and the first thing i discovered is that they are expensive, so i found a patten and thought that i will sew some, especially since we don't know which ones who work the best for Maja but then i realized that it will be quit expensive to sew some too since i want to use all organic fabrics and they are expensive to buy. So now i don't know what to do. It feels a bit overwhelming, maybe we should just buy some and try them out. I think Cushie Tushies are a big brand that might be good to try out, they have been voted Australia's no. 1 Cloth nappie.

Update!

After a feed and reading of Maja's alfabet, a swedish book, my maja is now asleep and im sitting here with a glass of rosé. I am finding all these great craft blogs and i cant wait for Maja to get a bit older so that we can do all these fun things together. This is the blog i am looking at right now and there is some simple but fun projects that you can do with your child.

Attans bananer!

Been sitting on the couch, eating my scones, drinking my chai and thinking that i should take in the washing because they said on the news that it might rain today but i thought it could wait and now its raining cats and dogs so I'm not even going to open the door to look at them as i know they are already soaked and i also know that i will get soaked if i try to run out and get them so i decided to go back here and write about it.

Look at this crazy little girl, this is how she decided that she wanted to lie and if that's how she wants to lie who am i to stop her.
Right now she is sitting in her bouncer and are making the cutest smacking noises so i am going to go and hang out with her and then its her fed and then time for bed.

KCWK!

So I'm going to try to be part of this. Its Kids Clothes Week Challenge which means that you will sew kids clothes for 1 hour a day for 7 days. So i will have to prepare a bit i think. I have bought these awesome sale fabrics, now i just need to come up with something to sew.

Sale fabrics in awesome colours!

Today we visited Rebecka and Moa. They live closer to the ocean and we went for a walk in this lovely autumn weather that we are having right now, its so nice.

Tonight its girls night home, Arron is having a gig and since i was at Rebeckas for lunch and didn't have scones i will have that for dinner, yay, sometimes its great to be grown up. I Also just finished a whole bag och M&M's, yum.

Rosé!

Maja is in bed and I am having my first whole glass of rosé wine since i found out i was pregnant. I wonder if you can get PMS without having your period. I have been feeling like i had PMS today, grumpy and irritated and of course i took it out on Arron when he got home, luckily i am married to an amazing man who had bought wine for me and who cooked me dinner and took care of Maja. Anyway, this is Maja during the day, sleeping, snuggling my t-shirt that i made a knot on, so cute.

This and that!

How cute is she!

Mom and daughter ready for mothers group!

Easter is upon us and this is the only
decoration in our house.

At IKEA we bought a new dona cover for Maja's room but now
i need to change the colours on the paper flowers above, they
don't match. We also bought a rug that didn't make
it on the picture, its a typical children's mat with roads etc.

The best!

One of the best things is to get a package from home. Today one finally arrived from my amazing mum. Its not a big thing i suppose with a package and a little note but it means so much to me and i also know the time, money and effort mum puts in to getting these packages to me. This time i got a really good breast feeding top that also looks great, stripes is definitely my style. I also got some books. I am a very big reader, read one to two books a week and i love to read Swedish books when i can but its hard to get hold of here. Me and Rebecka do a lot of swapping with Swedish books which is great. But still we run out of the Swedish ones very fast and then i have to read a English one but i don't enjoy it as much. Some warm woolen socks, i have found it hard to find some good ones here in Australia. And last but not least, KP;s barbecue spice. I use it on popcorn, i know, weird, but its the best thing. I have tried with heaps of other spices but this one is the only one that makes it, so mum sends it down to me, that and försvarets hudsalva (Swedish lip balm) is the things that i have sent down to me on regular basis.

Tack mamma, du är bäst!
Maja all dressed and cute ready for IKEA.
We went to IKEA last night. So good to go there in the evening, not may people there at all and you can easily walk around and get the things you want.

Veggie patch!

We have been working in the veggie patch this weekend. I love having a veggie patch. Love eating our own vegetables and i also like working in it, its relaxing seeing things grow. So now we pulled out all the summer veggies and got it ready for the winter ones. We also bought a compost. We already have a worm farm for all our food scraps but we needed something more so now we have a compost too.
Veggie patch before...

Veggie patch after.

Compost bin next to rose that is being
moved to the front garden.

Maja, always happy.
The weather have been amazing this weekend. Today we had friends over for some scones and it was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. I love it when it is like this, a bit like swedish summer, not to hot during the day but still warm and then a bit colder at night.
