Birthday outfit!

Maja's birthday outfit is now done. Except for the nappy covers/bloomers. I couldn't decide to put tulle on the sleeves or not but today Arron told me to go all the way with the girly theme so tulle it is!

Cushions!

Today have been a very productive day. First i went training. It takes about half an hour to walk there, then i train for an hour and then half an hour back. Its a perfect start to the day.

Yesterday i decided to change Majas room and today i sew some cushions that will be in her room. We have a single bed in there and we will put it on the floor with lots of cushions on it for Maja to play in. She loves the cushions, been playing with them all day, she also managed to get a noose bleed from falling.

I have also started on a top that she will wear on her birthday party. I will probably finish it tonight so i will show pictures tomorrow.

2012!

I'm back. At least a little bit. I have been missing posting but it have also been nice to have a break.

Today i made a hat for Maja. The old one i made have been outgrown. Maja used to love to have her photos taken but now it is so much harder to get a good photo.

I have also decided that i need a new design on the blog, im not very happy with the one i have and this is a bit of a fresh start. I just need to find the time to do it. I have a picture in my head of what i want, or at least what colours to use, its a start.

Here we go!

Its been very busy here lately and a lot of things have happened and the blog have been suffering from it. I haven't been sewing much but last night i made these two pants. The red and white is for a friends son. The mum saw this cute fabric with guitars on and wanted an outfit. The red and white stripey fabric is from an t-shirt that i also used to sew this bunny for Maja. Unfortunate i haven't have time to make them until last night and i only made the pants, the top will have to wait until i come back from Sweden. The boy is a little bit smaller than Maja so these will be great fro him to grow in.

The blue and white stripey ones are for Maja and i made them out of an old pair of Arrons jeans that are to small for him. She needs pants that can handle being dragged on the ground outside. The weather have been so nice and we are outside everyday and Maja crawls around everywhere so these pants will be good. I made them a bit bigger so that she will have something to grow in.

Yesterday was Fathers day here. Maja made a drawing for dad and she also helped me made this top for her. Being a true girl she picked all pink colours ; )
This top is super easy to do. I just cut out the letters in felt and then glued them on with fabric glue. I was suppose to sew them on to so that they will last a bit better but i was doing this in the morning and ran out of time. This is a very quick and easy way to have a bit of fun with your little ones tops.

Bits and pieces!

First and most important, we are going to Sweden, weeeeeeeee! Me and Maja are going on the 5th of September, so excited. Would have loved for Arron to come too. The reason we haven't gone earlier have been because i really wanted us to go all together the first time with Maja but it just haven't been possible so i will go by myself with her.

Bucket hat!

Spring is here and Maja needed a hat to cover her lovely head. We do have one that we got as a present but is pink and girly and you know how i feel about that so last night i started sewing one for her. Over at roubidou i found out that you could try this pattern out for free, its from the book Oliver + s, little things to sew. I have been reading a lot about this book and i have been wanting to try it out and now i got the chance. It was a great pattern and the instructions were super clear. I will do some changes to it tho. I feel that the brim is a bit short, especially in the back so i might make it a bit wider there. I'm also thinking about adding ties so that maybe it will stay on better. I am very happy with the result of this one, and its great that it is reversible so you can have different styles depending on the clothing you are wearing. The checked fabric is from a second hand men's shirt. I will make a whole summers outfit for her in the rest of the fabric.

Soft toys!

Since i didn't have much luck with my last soft toy attempt i thought i would find a tutorial and give it another go and this is the one i followed and this is the result. Super cute hey? Maja is asleep so she will have to test it tomorrow.

Eczema!

Since we had the bad thrush session Maja have been suffering from eczema on her whole body. Its worst around her neck, arms and legs but its is the neck area that is creating a lot of discomfort for her. For the last two nights she have been up crying and itching until it bleeds, poor little darling. We have tried almost everything but nothing seems to help. Sometimes it gets better and sometimes it gets worse but we haven't managed to figure out why. Still, she is such an happy baby and a trooper but nights are a bit hard. Since it all started she haven't actually slept a whole night through, which is understandably, but it does make me a bit sleep deprived sometimes, but i am so happy to be there for her and give her comfort.

This is what I'm working on now, or this is the remnants of what will become a dress for Maja.

Note to self; white tights, dirty floor and crawling baby is not a great combination.

Inspiration!

My inspiration for sewing have been lacking for a while now. I think with all traveling and everyday chores i haven't been able to find the inspiration to sew but then i got this beautiful pattern book in the post from Diana yesterday and straight away i got inspired, so today i did this dress for Maja. It was suppose to be a prototype since i was doing the pattern myself but i thought that maybe it could be a prototype that she could wear, but i sewed the bodice on back to front and i really cant be bothered unpicking so this will be a one time only wear prototype. I am very happy with the style tho, and the fit is really good. Now i will make it in a cute fabric. As usual Maja was happy to be a model.

Maja, the perfect model, pulled up the skirt so that you
can see the bodice.

SNV34378
Here it is very obvious that the bodice is sewed on
back to front. Its a bit big.

Yepp, super happy and loving life, even when my mom makes
me try on dresses in cold weather.

This is the Japanese pattern book that Diana gave me.

Today we went to story time at the library. Maja really loves going there and listening to the stories, but mostly i think she likes looking at all the kids.

Rompers!

Today i finished these rompers that i started last night. The elephant fabric is my favourite Japanese fabric and the blue is from a second hand men's linen shirt. Unfortunate i wasn't thinking while cutting out the fabric so on the back the elephants are up side down. I don't have a lot of the elephant fabric so i didn't want to cut a new piece so it had to stay. I'm very happy with these. The pattern that i got on eBay had the worst description and pictures so i had to figure most of the sewing out myself. I have made some mistakes along the way but the end result turned out ok.

Pants!

If you scroll down a bit you will see the pants that matches the kimono. Such a funny outfit.

Taking steps with help of daddy.

After a big poonami i had to change the clothes
underneath so i also changed the kimono over.
Don't know which side i like the most.

Yep that was a lot of photos of Maja. Sorry about the quality, sometimes you just cant be bothered. As soon as you take the camera out she calms down and gets happy. If she is crying she stops when the camera is out so she is a lot of fun to take photos of and also she is super cute so its hard not to snap a picture all the time.

Today i went to bunnings, i have a lot of project that i want to do for the house but i was very disappointed there. I only found one of the things that i wanted and the whole visit took me about an hour.

Kimono!

From an 90's Stussy shirt and a pair of pyjama shorts Maja got an reversible kimono. I'm am now working on the pants to match.

Dansa i neon!

This morning i made this top to match the pants i made yesterday. I'm in love with these pants and top styles. Pink has never been a colour of mine but now i do have a girl and i thought she could have some pink and i suppose pink can be good like it is here matched with grey.
As you can see on the picture the tops body is looking a bit small compared to the arms. In the rush of getting it done so that i could hang out with Maja i used the wrong sized body so its a bit small but it fits.

Sewing takes a bit longer these days when Maja is with me, she is so entertaining when she is on the floor and she wants to talk all the time.

She cant crawl yet but she is pushing herself backwards.
And turning.

I think we need to child proof the study soon.

Most amazing laugh ever!

I'm really liking the back of these pants now. I made the
curve a bit rounderand it looks much better.

My nipples is not better but i am feeding with a nipple shield now. I had to stop expressing because i was running out of milk. I wanted to thank all of you, reading this blog and giving me encouragement and good advices on how to overcome this thrush thing, it means a lot to me.
